High School Rowing
Dallas United Crew’s high school program provides a welcoming community where student-athletes learn teamwork, accountability, and confidence, all necessary for success on and off the water.

As the largest youth rowing program in Dallas, we currently serve over 100 athletes across 27 schools and are the reigning state and regional champions. We also serve as a pathway to college opportunities, with over 90 student-athletes recruited with scholarships to top-tier national institutions.

Most of our athletes discover rowing in high school, and our program is designed to teach them everything they need to learn about the sport. No rowing experience is necessary to join, and new rowers of all athletic backgrounds are welcome!
"I saw it happen to my sons and to so many others. In this sport, there are no superstars, there’s no one who scores the winning point. The whole crew in the boat, they all win or lose together. You crossed the line together. They call it the ultimate team sport for that. I see it happen and then I see them kind of transcend. All of a sudden, you have a kid who has confidence and who is getting physical fitness. They’re part of a group of people who would do anything for them. "

WHAT MAKES A DUC STUDENT ATHLETE?
ELEVATING SCHOLAR-ATHLETES
ACADEMICS FIRST

At DUC, our rowers are encouraged to put the student and student-athlete. With years of experience training the fastest crews in USRowing's Central Region, our coaches recognize the connection between academic and rowing success. Through our program, we help our rowers develop time-management skills that allow them to balance academics and athletics and prepare them for future success.

ATHLETE RECOGNITION

Rowing, like school-sponsored (UIL) sports, builds character and life skills. Yet, offering rowing exceeds the resources of public schools. DUC's partners educators' teams with our coaches to establish standards and support rowers with in-school awards like varsity letters and scholar-athlete designations.

SERVICE HOURS

Some public school districts and private schools have established a minimum number of hours in community service as a graduation requirement. As a non-profit, DUC offers a variety of service opportunities, including community events at our boathouse and shoreline cleanup at our lake.

EARNING P.E. CREDITS

Texas Law and Off Campus Physical Education (for public school districts): Texas Education Code 28.025(b-10), and Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Chapter 74, Subchapter B authorize awarding physical education credit for student participation in appropriate private or commercially sponsored physical education programs.

House Bill 72 and Subsequent Legislation: Comprehensive References and Explanations (page 153) states that such off-campus education programs are essentially Olympic events where students spend significant amounts of time in training. The Commissioner of Education approves each school district’s off-campus physical education programs.
