Learn to Row Camp
Looking for a fun, challenging way to spend your summer mornings? The Dallas United Crew Learn to Row Camp is the perfect introduction to the sport of rowing! Open to youth athletes ages 12–18, this co-ed camp offers hands-on coaching, expert guidance, and an opportunity to build lifelong friendships while mastering the basics of rowing on White Rock Lake.

WHO IS THIS CAMP FOR?

Beginning youth athletes in 6th–12th grade (12–18 years) with NO rowing experience.

Minimum age of 12 by the camp’s start date.

Campers are grouped by age, size, and skill level to ensure a tailored, supportive learning environment.

WHAT TO EXPECT
DAY 1

Group sessions
-
Boathouse tour and boat terminology (hands-on review)

Ergometer (indoor rower) mechanics and basic rowing drills. Wrap up with a relay for a prize!

First taste of life on the water in a docked practice barge (learn to carry and manage oars).
DAY 2

Start with athlete mobility exercises and warm-ups
-
Practice rowing in the barge or tandem boats, supported by experienced rowers who’ll guide and motivate you every step of the way!
DAY 3

Establish team crews and take on group-building exercises
-
Learn key roles and coxswain communication (the “general” of the boat)

Crews progress to tiered skill levels for hands-on technical drills.
DAY 4

Practice technical rowing skills with your crews, as well as side-by-side mock race pieces.

Build confidence to maneuver and level your boat.
DAY 5

Gold vs. Blue Day!

Celebrate with a fun, competitive race event! Teams are paired with experienced rowers, dressed in team colors, and guided through a pre-race warm-up by their coxswain.

Participants complete a 500-meter race, ending with an award ceremony and medals. Parents are invited to celebrate achievements and learn about next-step programs.
